Start with your qualifications
Before looking at university names, write down your latest qualification, subjects and results. If you are waiting for HSC or degree results, include when you expect them. This gives you a starting point for checking which programmes you can apply to.
Do not assume that a qualification accepted by one university will be accepted on the same terms by another. Check the requirements for the specific course and intake you are considering.
Look beyond the course title
Two courses called “business” or “computing” can cover different things. Open the module list and look at what you will actually spend time learning. Check how much of the assessment comes from exams, projects or research.
If you are undecided, pick two subjects you enjoy and compare a few courses in each. A popular course is only useful to you if you want to study its content.
Compare a short list using the same questions
Put two or three options side by side in a notebook or spreadsheet. Leave a blank where you need an answer rather than filling it with an assumption.
- Does this programme accept your qualifications and results?
- Which modules interest you, and how is the work assessed?
- When does the course begin, and how long does it take?
- What does the written fee quote include and leave out?
- For foundation or diploma study, what are the conditions for progressing to a degree?
Bring the unanswered questions to us
You do not have to settle on a university before contacting VisEdu. Tell us what you are comparing and where you are stuck. We can help you work through the choices and identify the details to confirm with the institution.
Keep your family involved if they are helping with the decision or the costs. It is easier to discuss a few well-understood options than a long list of university names.
